HORTICULTURE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Horticulture was established in 1982 as one of the oldest departments of Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University Faculty of Agriculture. Our department opened the undergraduate programme in 1982, the Master's programme in 1986 and the Doctorate programme in 1990. Our department, which started teaching with 30 students and 3 lecturers and 2 lecturers in its establishment year, serves 133 students with a total of 9 lecturers, 1 Doctor Research Assistant and 2 Research Assistants as of 2024-2025 academic year.
Within the Faculty of Agriculture B Block; 4 laboratories, 1 meeting room, 1 grafting unit, 1 air conditioning unit, 1 soilless agriculture unit, 1 graduate student study room are used by our faculty members and students.
In Köseilyas Education, Research and Application Farm, 10 decares of wire-trained orchard, 10 decares of open field orchard, 5 decares of vineyard, 2 decares of vegetable plot and 3 decares of greenhouse area are used by our department.
In our department, teaching and research are carried out in the branches of Vegetable, Fruit and Vineyard Cultivation and Breeding.
